Especially if you are a very busy employee and you have to constantly perform various tasks at your work, your office will eventually look like one big mess! It might be filled with papers, pens, notes, documents, CDs, DVDs, folders, you name it. In the case you want to quickly find a file or a folder, you will get through a lot of stress searching and thinking that the patience of your boss will eventually run out soon.
Luckily, there is a solution to this problem. You need to organize your work better and save more space from your desk. There are a few tips and tricks that you can use in order to do this. Although it might be quite hard at first, this will become your habit after a while and you will always be more careful with all the items that can be found on your office.
Get rid of unwanted/old/unnecessary stuff
It is a good idea to remove any office stationery supplies as often as possible. For example, throw unnecessary notes in the recycle bin alongside with other papers that you don’t need them anymore. Make use of just one pen at a time, not a dozen. Throw unusable pens or writing tools to the garbage bin as soon as possible. Place folders that you don’t currently need in drawers. Keep everything organized and you will eventually be able to increase your work speed and have more peace of mind too.
Make use of overhead cabinets, drawers and file cabinets
Especially if your office cubicle features overhead cabinets, it is a pity not to use them. For example, you can place things that you don’t need on a regular basis in the cabinets and get them only when it is required. Things like blank papers, toner for your printer, mobile phone charger, coffee mugs, etc can go in here. If you work with a lot of documents, it is a good idea to place them in file cabinets and label them accordingly. You will be able to quickly get them if your boss is asking you for a particular folder or file.
Use a shredder and save the planet
File shredders are excellent these days because unnecessary items can be quickly destroyed and used for other purposes. For example, did you know that some of the shredded material recovered from various companies is used to manufacture beds for different animals? You get the chance to throw useless papers, CDs, DVDs and so on, make more space on your office and save the planet as well!
